Storyboarding
So, onto the storyboard part.
I must say that this is a project that suits me well, I like doing things like this, and create storyboard drawings, figuring out angles and such.
After the treatment was done. we were asked to join up in groups to do the two remaining projects, storyboard and animatic. I hooked up with Andreas, Mats and Jan Kristian this time.We havent really been working on anything together, so I saw it as a good opportunity to get to know them better, and how they work.

What to do?
Well, first off we had to decide on which story, or treatment to go for. We gathered our stuff and sat down to discuss which to go for, and ended up using mine.

Getituponthewall
After a refreshing weekend thinking about the story and how to improve it, Monday came, and so did the time to get started with the drawing.
After a bit of discussing new thoughts, the wall quickly filled up with the first draft, giving us an overview of what to expect and what to change. Everyone pitched in on this, but most of the drawing in this project was done by Andreas and myself, simply because we enjoy drawing ^^

The frames
This is how the final draft ended up as, before entering the next stage of making the final renders.

Roughs and first drafts
These are some of the frames discarded.

The first draft for the ending. Dicarded due to continuity issues and wrong angles. But the idea was there. The second draft turned out just as it should, and so we kept that.
Some just would not work, some were just crappy. While drawing these first drafts, I stressed the group to try too think like a "movie". Youre eyes is the camera, and where would you put yourself to best view the frame of action , the angles and so forth. This seemed to have a good effect, and showed in the next drawings that followed.
Emo man
This is one of the last shots. The captain/caretaker person has just disconnected a part of the ship to save the rest of the cryogenically frozen people there.
Its a good shot, but it did not feel quite right to have him be this emo-type character, sobbing and feeling sorry for himself. So after a little discussion we chose to make him more "heroic", and give a final salute to the people, as he drifts of into space.

Final Renders
In the end this is our result for the final rendering of the storyboard. I feel we managed to pull through, though it could have used some more shots to express all that I wanted in this. But as the timeframe on this was quite strict, this is the best we could do. I think the story reads, and you can get what is happening, but then again, I might be a bit partial in that area :P

The final renders ended up pretty much similar to the final draft, with exeption of a few minor things.

Final words
At the end here I would like to say that this was a fun project. Drawing suits me very well, and draw we did. Alot. There is certain areas I would have liked to redraw, but as the timeframe for these projects were a bit short IMO, it just have to stay like this. For instance the comet impact on the ship could have used some more frames and shots, to explain it better, the way I wanted. Not to mention the wake up scene.
Regarding the teamwork of the group, I would say we managed to work together pretty nicely. Some more than others, but thats allways the case with group work. Andreas did an awsome job at keeping on top of things, and kickstart my ass when I get too noodely ^^
I guesstimate we did pretty much 50-50% of the drawings each. Mats and Janki contributed their parts aswell, in drawing drafts and brainstorming, though Janki not so much..

I guess thats about it, hope you enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
A little preview of the planetary explosion. Made a little gif out of it, looks cool ^^ Click to watch, as it seems weebly wont play this particular gif for some reason.
