The final Images:
Though we could have worked with the first drafts of our storyboard, I felt the need to refine them, and create our final images based on the drafts. Though it may not give more information than the drafts do in that respect, having them refined and drawn with the lighting and mood in mind, I feel you get a better starting point than if one chose not to.
Because instantly you GET the feel you want, you SEE the lighting scenario that the artists see, camera angles gets improved, and in some cases, moved, for a better flow. And because of this, the rest of the production will go smoother, and faster, since the things that are going into the film is allready defined and plotted out.
One must offcourse think about ones timelimit aswell, as it timeconsuming to redraw all those pictures. But IMO its time well spent.

These drawings were drawn by Andreas and myself, while Mats and Fredrik were doing research and pre-production/Animatic/starting on 3D previz.
Intro:
The establishing scene. The place where we first see the girl, sleeping in a dark room, lit up by moonlight shining through the semi open window. In the mirror you can see get-well cards, flowers that is getting old. A picture is shown where the girl recieves a teddy from her granny. A picture that is somewhat key to the storytelling further on.

As you can see here its quite moody. You get the dark and scary atmosphere, needed for our film to work. And there will be colour in the final shot, only reason for not doing coloured images, is that it would take longer to do, and it would loose some of its black and white charm IMO ^^
(Plus, Im not that good at drawing coloured images :P)
I really must say that the process of drawing storyboard images suits me well. I get a kick out of trying to depict a story that is written in words, out into the 2/3-D planes of perspective. Illustrating my ideas and thoughts, through the words, to images in my mind, to the pen and paper (or rather Wacom in this case)

Middle:
Getting to the middle part of our story, we shift from the familiar place of the girls room, to a cold, dark and gritty cityscape. In a way you could call it the midway land, a place between life and death. The place where one must make choise, to go either which way. Though the choise is not allways yours..
Im not going to go into every detail here, and will just leave you to enjoy the pictures.

Hopefully things so far is clearly readable, regarding the storytelling aspect, and you have'nt fallen off completly.
End:
Approching the end of out film, we now get back to the room of the girl. Her heartrate monitor, or some medical equpment, going haywire. Beeping and on the verge of total collapse.
The girls mother is seen shaking her little girl. Trying to snap her out of it. The beeping stops, or go to a continous beep. The mother seemingly failed to bring her back, she burst to tears.. But in that moment, the wind blows through the curtains, and the little girl comes too. The mother is overjoyed, and hugs her tightly. The girl looks over to the picture, a soft smile is seen. And she buries her head in her mothers warm embrace, as a small tear is seen falling down her cheek.

Not much else to say i guess. There you have it. The film in pictures.
Now the process of getting it timed, and into a Animatic, which is our next stage!
